Dr. Randall K. Wolf pioneered in 1999 a minimally invasive approach for the surgical treatment of Atrial Fibrillation, the Wolf Mini-Maze procedure for this surgical and technological advance. In 2006, the Cincinnati Business Courier named Dr. Wolf "Innovator of the Year". He has taught this revolutionary procedure to over 500 heart surgeons from 20 countries. Dr. Wolf has been a visiting professor in 18 countries, including Oxford University, University of Tokyo and Peking University. He was the first North American heart surgeon to perform da Vinci™ robotic cardiac surgery. He is past President of the International Society of Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery (ISMICS) and past President of the 21st Surgery Cardiothoracic Club. He served as Professor of Surgery, Ohio State University (1998-2003) and Professor of Surgery and Biomedical Engineering, University of Cincinnati (2003-2007). |
Dr. Wolf is widely published with over 100 peer review papers and textbook chapters, and he has served as co-editor of the Innovations Journal (2005-2007). As creator of the Wolf Mini-Maze procedure, he has more experience with this atrial fibrillation treatment than any other surgeon in the country. When not in the operating theater or lecturing, he performs stage and close-up magic.
